Polystyrene Block Form Construction

Inviting porch

This beautiful home features classic Florida style with SUPER energy efficient Polystyrene Block with porch encircling the whole house.

Polystyrene Block Form Construction is a new technology in the building industry used for the outside structure of your home.

Surveys of home owners of polystyrene block form homes rated the following as the best qualities for ownership:
Polystyrene Construction
Comfort,  Quiet, Energy Efficiency, Strength, Durability &
Design Flexibility.
Comfort:  Buildings constructed of Polystyrene Block have a more even temperature throughout the day and night, fewer drafts, fewer cold spots and hot spots, and a more consistent temperature from floor to ceiling.
Quiet: Only about one-third as much noise gets through a Polystyrene Block wall as passes through a conventional wood-frame or steel-frame wall. This sharply reduces the annoyance of outside traffic, aircraft, lawnmowers, and storms. Owners say you have to experience it to appreciate it.
Energy Efficiency: The savings come from the same things that make Polystyrene Block buildings more comfortable: the high insulation of the foam, the thermal mass of the concrete, and the low air infiltration of the foam-concrete sandwich.

Polystyrene Block blocks reduce the long term costs of heating, cooling, painting, and general maintenance

Strength: Polystyrene Block walls are reinforced concrete, which has an excellent record surviving natural disasters and which reduces the spring and vibration occupants feel.
Durability:

Concrete is a material for the ages. It is resistant to rust, rot, burning, light, oxidation, and pests.

Polystyrene Block walls have required little or no maintenance or repair. Many buyers in fact choose them because they want not to have to worry about what happens inside their walls.

Design Flexibility: Polystyrene Block walls can take any conventional finish--stucco, brick, stone, clapboard, hardboard, vinyl--just about anything that goes onto frame buildings.

A Healthier Home & Environment

Building with Polystyrene Block is healthier for the environment in a number of ways: by minimizing the number of different building products involved in construction, by reducing the amount of waste generated on the construction site, and by lowering energy requirements for heating and cooling.

Polystyrene Block homes provide a healthy indoor environment, too. Nothing held within or ordinarily emitted by an Polystyrene Block wall is toxic. The measurement of the air contents of actual Polystyrene Block houses shows an almost complete absence of any emissions.

Polystyrene Block What is a Polystyrene Block?
They are large expanded polystyrene blocks that attach to each other with an intricate, matching pattern that is embossed on the top and bottom of each block.

A series of vertical rebar is placed in the foundation. These forms are placed over the rebar and as the forms are put up, rebar is placed vertically and horizontally. Then concrete is poured into the cavities in the blocks.

A six-inch reinforced concrete wall is created that is 90% concrete and 10% foam.

Polystyrene blocks create a wall that offers long term advantages to the homeowner in the form of super strength, insulation, high wind resistance and long-term low maintenance.
